The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
